What's The Attraction?
There's definitely a shortage of tall men in the city. To many women, taller men may are seen as more confident, powerful and attractive than their vertically challenged counter-parts. With height signaling physical dominance, taller men can also make women feel smaller, protected, and perhaps even more “feminine”. In the U.S. population, about 14.5 percent of all men are six feet or taller. Among CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, that number is 58 percent. What's even more interesting is of the general American population, 3.9 percent of adult men are 6'2" or taller. Among CEOs surveyed, 30 percent were 6'2" or taller. In evolutionary terms, a larger man may have been able to provide more protection to their offspring, have better genetic qualities to pass on to their future children, and were thus accordingly awarded with greater social status. Concurrent with this idea that height is an indicator of good evolutionary success, researchers found that taller men were more likely to have at least one biological child compared to shorter men (Pawlowski, Dunbar, & Lipowicz, 2000).The "long and short" of it is that it's a scientifically proven fact, when it comes to men..."size matters".
